We at Transcendent Moving & Storage would like to congratulate the young women of the University of New Mexico women’s cross country team. On November 21 the Lobos women took home the school’s first ever NCAA Division 1 Cross Country national title.
According to an article posted on NCAA.com, on the day of the championship meet, the Lobos headed into the contest as clear-cut favorites. Knowing this, it’s easy to see why they dominated the competition the way that they did.
"It’s a great day," says UNM head coach Joe Franklin in the article. "Super excited for the women. They’re going to remember this for the rest of their lives and that’s really special."
Competing in the schools 10th-ever NCAA Championship, UNM’s margin of victory was the fifth-largest in NCAA history. The team finished more than 80 points ahead of second place Colorado, in order to take home the championship. Five UNM runners placed in the top 25, making them the first team with five All-Americans in one championship since 2009.
There were 31 teams on the field that day and we are thrilled that New Mexico’s very own were the ones to come out on top. This team shows all of us in the Albuquerque community what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication. The folks here at Transcendent Moving & Storage couldn’t be more happy for the Lobos, and we are proud of our community’s accomplished student-athletes. We know that for these amazing young women, there are many winning performances of all kinds in store.
