Global Entrepreneurship Week kicked off in Albuquerque on Monday, November 16, 2015 with a wide range of startup-themed events taking place in the Downtown Innovation District. This is an annual event that takes place throughout the U.S. and internationally, celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship. Albuquerque has been chosen as a host city for the second consecutive year.
“We’ve been designated as one of the top cities where entrepreneurship is being celebrated with good, quality events that embrace startup innovation and provide opportunities for community involvement,” said Albuquerque Economic Development Director Gary Oppedahl to the Albuquerque Journal.
Oppedahl says he believes that a key to having a successful startup community is to give entrepreneurs plenty of opportunities to network and form business relationships. The events of Global Entrepreneurship Week are aimed at people pursuing all types of business ventures. There will be activities for entrepreneurs, firms looking to expand nationally and internationally, companies focused on technology, retail businesses and more.
The event kicks off with InnovateHER, a pitch competition for startups promoting products and services for women and families, where businesses will compete for a chance at over $70,000 in awards. Certain Global Entrepreneurship Week events will take place simultaneously in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Santa Fe.
Events like these, ones that celebrate American ingenuity and entrepreneurship, are why Transcendent Moving & Storage is so happy to be a part of the Albuquerque community. Global Entrepreneurship Week is an event that takes place at locations all over the world, yet Albuquerque has been chosen as a host city for two consecutive years. The people of this great city know that it’s because there are few better places to live, work and grow.
